Day 3 -- A Rough Start

Day 3 -- A Rough Start

So I promised that we would share the not so great days and today was one of them. I have been fighting illness and the rain with our last pack up. I have been slowed down; way down. And this made me feel equally down. After six months of planning and preparing, it was disheartening that there was still to much to do. Tears flowed.

I knew we were taking on a huge task. I didn't think we were taking on a monumental task. Alas. I know it will be worth it all when we are on the road but today was a tough day.

This comes in combination with the slow hands of Mr. Hero's retirement processing. Sparing you the whole long paperwork story, his retirement had two steps -- one as a member of the military and the second as a civilian defense employee of the federal government. The military happened as expected in September and we were told to expect the civilian retirement to follow about two - three months after. Therefore, we planned to hit the road January 1st.

Well, January 1st has come and gone and he is not fully retired. We're hoping to be at it fully next month. We'll see if the slow hands of paperwork agree. In the mean, we are going to still begin our adventures just closer to home. There is a lot we haven't done in Texas (it is huge, after all) and we will take 3-4 day trips until he is finally finished.

That is if I can ever finish packing. And breathe through my nose. Right now, I'll just take cleared sinuses.
