My Valentine to You

My Valentine to You

Sometimes, you should choose to make yourself your Valentine.

I want you to try something with me. Say "I love you" to yourself. Go ahead. Did you feel it? No?

I get it.

It feels pretty stupid the first few times you do it. Doesn't it?

Self-love is Essential love

But here's the thing—you need to keep doing it. You need to say "I love you" until it starts feeling truthful.

It took me a long time to get there, because we're not raised to feel like we should love ourselves. But you should. Here's why: if you don't love yourself, you can't really love the people around you. That self-love is what fills up the well that allows you to pour love into the people around you. It's also how you learn to receive love.

I know it may seem silly or stupid or even selfish, especially if you're a parent. If you're a parent, you're probably thinking, "I don't have time." But you do have time. I promise you. Just take a minute.

You always have time for three little words

Stand in front of that mirror and say, "I love you." Yes, it may feel stupid forever. But here's a funny thing about the subconscious—it doesn't sense the sarcasm or the stupidity or the weirdness. It feels it. It absorbs it.

So teach yourself to love yourself and build up that well. Make a shell around yourself of protection against all those arrows and stabs that the world may throw at you. Do this so that you can not only give love and be the best person you can be, but so you can receive love, and you can know that you're loved.

The reason is simple

Because I promise you—if you're here, you're loved, and you are lovable. You're supposed to be here. If you are on this Earth, I promise you, you are loved. You might not feel it at times, you might not see it at times, but you are loved. You are here for a reason.

That's exactly why I started doing this show. Every single person in this world is here for something. They have a purpose, and I want everyone to feel that and know that, because that gets me passionate. No one on this Earth should ever feel like they are not loved, and they are not important, and they are not here to do something.

So I'm telling you, my Valentine's wish to you is not only that you know that I love you, but that you know that you love you.
