Your Worth is Not in Question: Women's Value Beyond Clickbait Headlines
Share
With its click-bait title and two women debating whether or not bringing women into business creates gossip environments, the recent NY Times Podcast, "Did Liberal Feminism Ruin the Workplace?", which colloquially became Did Women Ruin the Workplace? reminded me of the 2012 Time article, "Are You Mom Enough? (I had thoughts, a LOT of thoughts about that one here.)
From "Mom Enough" to Workplace Debates: Why Women's Worth Is Always Questioned
While the discussions in both are more nuanced than the titles suggest, I had problems with the starting concept. As I pointed out in my post about the Time article, the question was limited to moms, not parents. And in the NY Times discussion, the question starts with a negative-favoring question for women, even if answered by two conservative women. We are always set at a proving point. Our worth is always in question.
For too long, I measured mine by these outside voices. You don’t need to do the same. We are enough. Women, conservative, liberal, or otherwise, didn’t ruin anything. We bring great value.
Celebrate your worth.
